Welcome
A Letter From The Minister
(updated February, 2008)
Dear Friends,
These past nine months have been ones of incredible growth here at FCC. On the different tabs that you will click on at this website, you will see evidence of this growth. But here’s a brief snapshot:
We hired Andrew Packman to serve as a ministerial assistant, focusing on children’s & youth ministries. Andrew is also playing in our 610 contemporary worship band and just last week was approved for licensure with the Great River Region. He is now a licensed lay minister. We are proud to have him!
We adopted Westminster elementary school. As a partner in education with them, we provide nearly 30 reading volunteers who help students weekly on their reading skills. Additionally, we provide teacher encouragement in the way of monthly “goodies” in the teachers lounge and other volunteers (in the office and library).
For the first time in recent memory the mission trip we’ll be taking this year is not a high-school only trip. We have 22 people of all ages (including our awesome high school youth) preparing to travel to Matamoras, Mexico to build two houses in one week!
We have made a few successful attempts to bolster our adult education. We offered four (4) seminars over the past half year during the Sunday School hour. The topics included “Talking Faith” (evangelism), “History of the Reformation,” “Faith and Film” and “Health and Wellness.” Over 100 people attended these seminars. Additionally, we have over 15 people beginning the “Disciple” bible study.
We began a contemporary worship service! Currently offered bi-monthly, it is called “610" for two reasons: 1) because it is offered at 6:10 p.m. Sunday evenings, and 2) it is based on Romans 6:10, which read (paraphrased), “the life we live we live for God.”
Our numbers are increasing, the energy is high, the commitment to outreach and mission growing, the spirit is present, and we are enthusiastic and excited about what God is doing in our midst.
We would love to have you join us for these and many other faithful ventures at FCC!
Rev. Michael E. Karunas, Senior Minister
